Information processed to deliver the site
The hosting server receives technical request data including your IP address, requested path, timestamp, browser user-agent, and response status. The hosting provider and site operator may use server logs for reliability, diagnostics, and abuse prevention. Log retention depends on the hosting configuration.
Your public IP and network details
The home page displays the address from which this server received the request. With JavaScript enabled, it automatically requests approximate location and provider information in the background. The server sends your detected public IP to ipwho.is when a cached result is unavailable. Results are cached for up to ten minutes in a bounded server cache. No precise device-location permission is requested, and local or reserved addresses are not sent to the provider.
IP geolocation is approximate. A VPN, mobile network, or provider’s registration location may produce a result far from your actual location.
The command-line IP endpoints return your observed address without a session cookie. Basic plain-text and JSON responses do not contact a third party. Adding details=1 to a JSON request asks the server for the same approximate network lookup, subject to shared limits and caching. Query parameters cannot select another lookup address.
Tools and downloads
The IPv4 and IPv6 subnet calculators, IPv4/IPv6 analyzer, IP-range-to-CIDR converter, CIDR membership checker, and file transfer time calculator run in your browser. Their entered addresses, network lists, file sizes, and rate values are not submitted by these tools or saved by the application. Searches and topic filters in the guide library and tool directory also run locally.
The TCP port checker submits your detected public IP and selected ports to this server. By default, it tests only your detected public address. Checks are rate-limited and bounded; rate-limit records use hashed address keys and expire automatically. Hosting logs may still contain request IP addresses. Form values are sent in a POST body rather than in the URL.
“Save brief” creates a text download in your browser containing your IP, the page connection status, and available network details. This download is not uploaded by the site. Consider the contents before sharing it.
Cookies and local storage
The light/dark switch saves only your appearance choice in this browser under the local-storage key timip-theme. Light mode is the default. This preference is not sent to the server and remains until you change it or clear the site's browser storage. If storage is unavailable, the switch still works for the current page.
The home page and port checker use a session cookie named timip_session to validate requests and reduce cross-site request abuse. It is HTTP-only, restricted to same-site requests, and marked Secure on HTTPS connections. It contains a random session identifier. The application uses PHP’s configured session storage and expiration policy.
The site does not currently load analytics or advertising scripts, or use browser local storage for tracking. The publisher declaration in ads.txt does not itself load ads. Advertising would require an updated integration and privacy information before activation.
External links and third-party services
External documentation and the IP-information provider have their own privacy practices. Opening an external link sends a request to that destination. Infrastructure providers may process requests to host, secure, and deliver this site.
Data retention and security
The application cache is bounded and removes expired entries as it is used. Session and server-log retention are controlled by the hosting configuration. The site uses request validation, output escaping, security headers, and limits on outbound checks. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
