Privacy policy

What the site processes to deliver a page, how advertising may use data, and the choices available to visitors.

Effective July 16, 2026Last updated July 16, 2026
Important setup note: The site operator must configure an appropriate consent-management platform and regional privacy messages in the advertising account before serving personalized advertising where consent is required.

Information processed to deliver the site

Like most websites, the hosting server receives technical request data such as the visitor’s IP address, date and time, requested page, browser user-agent, referring page when provided, and response status. Hosting and security providers may retain this information in logs for reliability, abuse prevention, diagnostics, and security.

Public IP lookup

The home page displays the IP address from which the server received the request. For public addresses, the server may send that address to an IP-information provider to retrieve approximate region, network, and provider data. Results may be cached briefly to reduce repeated requests. Geolocation is approximate and is not intended to identify a person or exact address.

Networking tools

The subnet calculator runs in the browser and does not need to submit the entered address to the server. The open port checker sends the entered public hostname or address and selected ports to this server so it can perform the requested connection checks. Checks are bounded and rate-limited; normal server logs may record the request.

Advertising, cookies, and similar technologies

This site uses Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device information, IP addresses, and interaction data to deliver, limit, personalize, and measure advertising, depending on consent, settings, and applicable law.

Consent choices

Where required, a consent message should appear before advertising technologies use data that requires consent. Visitors can accept, decline, or manage the options presented. A choice may be stored so the message does not need to appear on every page.

Google requires publishers serving personalized ads in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland to use a Google-certified consent-management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. The site operator is responsible for configuring this correctly in AdSense.

Third-party services

Third-party services have their own privacy practices. This site may use an IP-information provider to enrich a public IP result, Google AdSense to deliver advertising, and infrastructure providers to host, secure, and distribute the site.

Data retention and security

Temporary lookup caches are intended to expire automatically. Server, security, and advertising providers may retain data according to their own configuration and policies. Reasonable safeguards should be used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

This site is a general-audience technical resource and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly request account registration or profile information from children.

Your choices and questions

Visitors can adjust browser cookie controls, advertising preferences, and consent choices where a privacy message is available. Blocking some technologies may affect ad delivery but should not prevent access to the educational content. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@thisismyip.com.

This page describes the site’s intended operation and is not legal advice. The operator should review it against the actual hosting, analytics, advertising, consent, and retention configuration.
